Halfway through a dream
She awakens with a start
bordering on reckless knowledge
it belies her state of grace
a new frontier this
Crazy
she mutters
her feet hit the floor
cold
before her head clears
another wave of clarity
she needs coffee
the damp eases in through
the cracks in the house
and with a bit of luck
she’ll make it to the kitchen
before the shiver
awakens her too fully
slippers
she searches with her toes
they’re there
just past last night’s discards
his shoes, belt, clothes
answers are distant this morning
caught up in the dream state
sleep unbidden
coffee
that’s where she was going
better move before her body
betrays her
again.
